Shiho Hayashi is a ceramic artist based in Tajimi, Gifu. Her artwork has beautiful curves that look very organic and feel as if they imbue images of things like the waves on the surface of the water, mountain ranges, and the human body line. These objects are a combination of several hollow parts that are different from one another. The resulting abstract form brings rhythm to the space while the jet black shade of the clay and matte texture expressed by carbonization firing feels as if it gives life and character to the abstract landscape, liberating our imaginations. She creates this captivatingly beautiful black color without the use of glazing. The beautifyl color tones forged by natural woodchips and the flames of the kiln will surely mesmerize you.
