Kenichi Sasakawa
KIME - texture
2020.04.11 Sat − 05.06 Wed

Kenichi Sasakawa has been involved with glasswork for many years, and he is an artist with a wide range of works, from artwork to glass ware for practical use. The “texture (in Japanse -KIME)” tittle of this exhibition is one of the important factors that attracts us to objects. With his works, there is a fascination with the gap between the smooth, glass-like texture when you touch it with your fingers, and the noise-like texture you can see. Recycled glass is a unique material that contains metal and other components mixed into it, and although its chic, gray tone may be silent, the texture of the glass when placed in a room has the power to influence the entire space’s texture. The thoughts of an industry designer or architect coexist within a single piece of glass with an artistry similar to when a potter kneads clay in pursuit of a unique form. When you place this wine glass on a table, it will surely feel like a beautiful work of art.
